FAQ`s

WHAT IS SHOTBLASTING?

The process of removing surface debris from metal surfaces, such as paint or rust, by the means of shooting very small particles of shot/sand with blast of compressed air.

DOES SHOTBLASTING DAMAGE MY METAL ITEM?

No, shot blasting removes the very top layer of debris, leaving the fresh, clean metal exposed. If your item is badly damaged and if rust has destroyed parts of your item, the shot blasting may cause further damage. Our staff will advise accordingly

HOW BIG IS YOUR BLASTING AREA?

Our premises consist of 4 413 m and we have 2 x 8 ton Cranes and various forklifts.

We have a total we have 4 blast rooms.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The time it takes to shot blast depends on the fine detail of the item. Every part of the item needs to be blasted or create a good quality result. If the item has a lot of features to it, it may take longer, but for a large flat product, it will take a few minutes

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY PRODUCT AFTER IT IS SHOT BLASTED?

As the metal is now raw and exposed, we advise clients to collect their item as quickly as possible, and to proceed with priming or painting as soon as they can to avoid the exposed metal being damaged by air moisture and/or start to rust again.

We do offer paint services as well, whether it is Red Oxide (primer) or specialised painting (3coat system ect – according to client specification)

CAN YOU APPLY PRIMER TO MY ITEM?

Yes, we can spray your product at an additional cost. Please discuss with our staff.

WHAT IS SHOTPEENING?

Shot peening is intended to induce surface compressive stresses in metal parts which are subjected to repeated applications of complex load patterns such as axles, spring (helical, torsional and leaf), gears, shafting, aircraft landing gear, structural parts etc, for the purpose of improving resistance to fatigue and stress corrosion cracking.

WHAT ITEMS WILL TIPICALLY REQUIRE SHOT PEENING?

Shot Peening is used on (but not limited to)  gear parts, cams and camshafts, clutch springs, coil springs, connection rods, crankshafts, gearwheels, leaf and suspension springs, rock drills, and turbine blades

Do I NEED TO ISSUE TARGET SHOTBLSTERS WITH A PO?

Yes, we do require a Purchase Order number, when items are delivered to our premises, to simplify the invoicing and payment process

HOW DO I PAY?

You can pay cash or use EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer)

We will compile an Invoice – and give the document when you collect your items or an Invoice will be emailed to you.

Account invoices are available to existing clients, or new account applications can be applied for via our ADMIN office.
